Octave
Octave means eight. In scientific pitch notation, G4 to G5 is an octave higher. C4 to C3 is an octave lower.

Time signature
A time signature is a numerical sign used to indicate the meter of a song. The top number is how many beats are in each measure. The bottom number tells the note that gets one beat. A 4/4 time signature has four beats in a measure. The quarter note equals one beat.
